Task 12: Gallery

 

Choose 5 projects or assignments that you have completed this year in ANY class. You must choose at least one piece of writing. Select examples that you are proud of and that show off your skills and talents. Consider a wide variety of types of projects. For each project, include the following information:

1. Include a title for the project in a large, easy-to-see font.

2. Feature a picture of the project (can be a photo-- check out the P drive-- OR a screenshot of a digital project or writing assignment).

3. Write a paragraph describing each project that includes the following components:

Task 9: Slide Show

1. Continue watching this tutorial, beginning about 25 minutes in.

2. Add a slide show to one of your pages (not the gallery page) using the widgets library. Make sure the pictures match the topic of the page. You can make your slide show the background or not-- your choice! Include at least four pictures.

 

Task 8: College/ Career Research

1. Take this career interest survey. Click on links to read about strands of careers that could be ideal for you!

 

SENIORS:

2. Considering the information for the career survey checklist and the college you want to or will go to, research careers using this link. Choose three careers to research in depth.

3. On your My Future page, write one or two brief sentences explaining that, on this page, you will share information on careers you are most interested in.

4. Then, using a bolded heading, list each of the three careers you've selected.

5. Under each career, add five bullet points of significant information (i.e. wage range, demand for workers, required education, etc.).

6. Under your bullet points, write a brief paragraph explaining your accessibility to this career. Does your college/ university offer it? Does the place you want to live some day have a demand for this career? What decisions regarding education, lifestyle, and location might you have to make?

JUNIORS:

1. Considering the information for the career survey checklist, research careers using this link. Choose one career to research in depth.

2. Read about this career, taking note of pay range, demand for the career, and level of education required.

3. Then, look in to colleges you are interested in that offer the major required for this career. Try this website! Choose three colleges to explore-- a "dream" college, a mid-range option, and a very accessible option.

4. On your My Future page, write a few sentences explaining that you are sharing information about how to achieve your future goal of becoming a _________________.

5. Then, list at least five bullet points of important information on this career.

6. Next, list your three colleges, creating a bolded header for each.

7. Finally, under each college, put at least five bullet points of significant information: cost of tuition, location, percentage of students admitted, graduation rates, test score requirements, etc.

2. Use this tutorial as your guide-- watch and work as you go! The tutorial is for a photographer's website, so yours will be a bit different. You'll need the information from the first 23 minutes. Make sure to format your site according to the information shared here.

Task 1: Jville Field Trip Reflection

1. Create a word document.

2. Write one well-structured paragraph answering some or all of the following questions about our field trip on Friday:

- What did you learn about tourism in Jacksonville? What sites and events make this town a tourist location?

- What did you learn about the history of Jacksonville and Southern Oregon? How might this information interest visitors?

- How did you accomplish the task of locating various locations in Jville? Did you work as a team effectively? Did you problem-solve? If so, how?

- Now that you've visited Jville, what sites would you like to go back to visit again? Why?

- How has tourism impacted Southern Oregon?

3. Proofread closely.

4. Include and save any of your favorite pictures from the trip-- you may eventually use these in your website.

5. Save everything in your CIS website folder in your U drive.
